Latest Review :   "Got to say very dissatisfied with both meals and also thwaites pint of beer. The sausages can only be best described as bulk buy catering sausages normally found at a road side cafe, the mash was obviously premade and not warmed up properly and the less said about the over cooked tin peas and over cooked carrots the better. The gravy was watery powdered stuff with some onion added... My wife's lasagne honestly looked like a £1.89 Aldi microwave meal for one that had been flung onto a plate with a salad."

Latest Review :   "We ordered our food & we felt really let down by tbe standard off cooking. This food was not cooked by a chef & must of been cooked by a comedian, The steak was full of grizzle, the bread was rock hard, the pie was drier than a dessert & they had cooked the onoin rings in a yorkshire pudding mix. This would have made a great episode in Fawlty Towers, Thwaites take note!"

Latest Review :   "Thwaites pub however was definitely the most unfriendly one. No background music .the room I went into with my companion was occupied by 3 couples and you could hear every conversation even if you don't want to. I had to have a serious conversation and I just couldn't. The bar staff could at least smile a bit. Gud selection of ale. If you wanna go here you may as well go to the supermarket buy some real ales and lock yourself in a shed it would be just the same."

Latest Review :   "Two people in my party ordered a chicken roast dinner. We expected more than a tiny chicken leg on the bone for £14.50. We expected carved chicken as you would with beef. Terrible value for money. The childrens scampi and chips was such a small portion it was a joke. We even considered ordering extra portion of chips as it was so small. No one came to check on the food order or offer drinks. I will not be returning here again."

Latest Review :   "The table looked like a small child had set the cutlery out. The floor was soaking wet, why it had been washed just before opening at midday is anyone’s guess, despite this, the floor was filthy. The place was generally grubby. I have eaten here many times before and it has been lovely, but something has changed. Main courses were over cooked, the service was dreadful. We had a midday sitting and were served our desert at 2.45 the guests arriving for the 3.00pm sitting were starting to leave."

Latest Review :   "Really disappointed. Food was inedible. The hot chilli nachos were really cold so we sent it back. They just warned it up in microwave, it was still cold and now soggy. I ordered a garlic naan bread, it was just a dry shop bought one with cold unmelted grated cheese on it and no garlic, not even warmed up. I sent it back to be heated up and it came back still cold and the cheese was still unmelted. The halloumi fries were cold n came with no dip. And a dried up burger for our son."

Latest Review :   "Overstretched and over priced food. Our order comprised of two starters that were eaten and adequate, a Thai curry, a beef wellington and a lamb shank with dauphinois were our main courses. Thai curry was sour and the Wellington was so tough it was inedible. I need to make special mention of the Lamb Shank which was comparable to three quarters of the size of a chicken leg (honestly unbelievable) with a sliver of dry potatoes."

Sunday lunch simply dreadful

Under new management so hope it will improve. It is awful at the moment so I should give it a month. Soggy veg, tasteless food or salty and slow in coming. Used to be so good.

Stopped by here on our way to the coast.

Given a warm friendly welcome by the barmaid we ordered drinks and asked if they were serving food told sorry no finishes at 2pm, it was 2.03pm.However off she went to check with the kitchen and told yes you can order food, and that's what you call customer service. We both ordered club sandwich and oh boy was it worth the wait, toasted bloomer with a side of fries and side salad. It was absolutely gorgeous and a huge portion.

This is a Fawlty Towers hotel without the wit

This hotel entirely rests on its laurels due to the location. My room was incredibly noisy, small and massively overpriced. This is a Fawlty Towers hotel and don't bother to complain because neither the staff nor Basil can handle it. Its all the customers fault.

Unnacceptable

Our stay at the Cottons on 11th and 12th February(which was essential travel for my father's funeral) the heating didn't work, eventually found someone, who came and reset the thermostat, but went off again soon after, the second night was the same it was -1/2 outside, someone brought us a electric heater at about 10.30 pm . The shower didn't get hot. Had to ask for coffee, teaspoons etc . Frayed carpets. Very unpleasant stay in very personal circumstances. Room 148

Excellent experience

Good, fresh food well cooked, great value for money. Attentive service but not fussy and very well kept beer! As I found out later that they are award winners. The log fire was lovely and cosy and certainly contributed to the warm friendly pub. We will definitely be back, and not just for our 10% discount.

Gorgeous country pub

Just what you needed on a miserable Misty cold day. Roaring fire and cosy oldie worldy decor. Lots of parking. Very pleasant staff. The fish butty ( on a brioche bun) & mushy peas also with skinny fries. The beer battered haddock was beautiful. The goosnargh chicken BLT on brioche was also spot on and will definitely return. Highly recommended

Tired and overpriced

We paid £338 to stay here (£165 B&B and £8 parking). The bar, restaurant and courtyard are modern and inviting but as soon as you climb the stairs to the bedrooms, the cracks begin to appear (literally!). Our room was dark with only a small window and minimum lighting. The bathroom ceiling had mildew and the paint was peeling off. The sink had age lines and the internal doors were knocked and worm.

Simply the best pub in Blackburn

As the title suggests, this is the best pub in the area. Great ale, great staff, great food and great atmosphere. Always something going on. Keep up the good work guys..Just stopped off for one but ended up staying longer , very nice comfortable pub worth a visit.
